Pretty cool. As DCA tells it: Quote: Our July Sale #347 brings our anniversary auction. We have come a long way in 44 years. Each sale has more variety and more valuable stamps and covers. How is the market? Rolling right along. The task of the auction is to do right by both the buyer and seller. In this sale, some of our sellers will be extremely happy. Lot 319, the U.S. #233a, was hiding in plain sight. The collector was not aware of his special stamp. https://stampauctionnetwork.com/TS/TS347.cfm

I also note that just after I posted the first image above I referred Jujustamps to this thread where $20,000 cat stamp was discovered hidden, she posted her $45,000.00 Scott "613" shown in another thread. Perhaps posting in SCF about finds such as the one made by Dutch Country on behalf of a client, is just as bad as responding to posts from treasure hunters. Showing treasures can still be found must be bad for the hobby. Must make other think they can too, right? That is even if most others are wrong about their identification of the stamp in question.
Here even some are disputing the find, ignoring a good, genuine, current expertizing certificate. Kind of tough to fault others for disputing what they are told. |

The finder in the case of the 233a was a professional who has spent years examining US collections over and over and over, not som.e collector wearing rose colored glasses. |

As I recall, Juju had some help and advice on the 1923 Harding which he/she twisted into "validating" information that the Harding was rare and worth a fortune. That's when the stamp was listed on ebay. https://goscf.com/t/84553&whichpage=2Not sure if we are are sending a message to help scammers, or one that shows we wish to resist them? |

As a member of the forum, one certainly needs to decide which kinds of posts to spend time on. I have made mine. |
