Mottaz, I guess we all want to see something or the lack of to make something more valuable. The fact is it is or it is not and we have to look at things objectively. When looking at a valuable stamp. I try and look for something that would make it not the valuable issue. After trying to disprove the stamp in question I can not. Then the stamp is the valuable issue. This works for me, maybe something else works for others.

@Uknjay you are right I agree with you I care more about a good state stamp but in case of damged one its hard many signs disappear and it will not deserve the effort.

Mottaz, I want to go back to this portion of your early replies to this thread. What methods did you try? Strong side-lighting from several angles? Dipping in watermark fluid? Trusting a note written by another collector? Other?

Second, What are you using to identify your US stamps? Which websites or which printed catalogs (publisher and year)?

dear @John Becker for resources I depend on scott specialized catalog and many other us classic stamps books for online mainley on sweedishtiger site and any other search needed thats source of data ,for methods I use strong side-lighting also high magnification x20 ,scanning 1200 dpi and mono colors lighting with different colors instead of watermark fluid even for watermark check and scan by grayscale and changing gamma percentage but in some cases you cant get a final opinion.

Mottaz: you can do any number of techniques you want to try and convince yourself that you have the rare and not the common. From the practical standpoint, and to another collector or potential buyer, your stamp is only going to accepted as a Scott 127 if you have an accompanying certificate saying as much from the PF, PSE, PSAG and a few solo expertizers such as William Crowe.

Traces of the grill also appear to be evident on the front of the stamp, across the right wing of the eagle. Although damaged, there is a price at which it can be sold. What that price is I cannot say but I would have purchased it as a young collector with a very limited budget, if the price was right. Best of luck and thank you for posting.

dear @Shoveler the problem is like that the traces you see also I see in scan but when you use magnification and use direct eye it is more like scratches due damage of paper any how I didnt care to much as it is damged one.
