In a collection I bought there are s few stamps that have a faint single line across them. The stamp appears to be unused with original gum. Is this some kind of pre-cancel? Suggestions?

Not a precancel as well as looking more like a string or rubber band mark but ^^^

That makes sense. So it may well be unused, but toned and damaged by storing tied up or rubber banded. As I mentioned there are a few unrelated stamps with similar damage in this one collection. This is a good explanation why such a thing should happen to unrelated stamps. Thanks.
