The 1/2 cent stamps all have a significant catalog value as used but does that drop when still on cover? It seems this cover is a real lemon, but why? Or is it a good cover, but less so because of the multiple half cents rather than just a solo?

I may quote the catalog later, but for now my Classic is in the trunk of the car and I am not.

Now if Unitrade has values for the stamps used and on cover, those would be interesting to see reported.

EDIT:
Is $11.00 US a fair price, too high or too low? Should the stamps be soaked off and offered as singles and a pair?

Unitrade DOES report the estimated value of some stamps on cover. I only have the 2014 Unitrade, but your 1/2 Unitrade/Scott 66 is valued at $300 on cover. However, this is for a single use on cover. Unitrade refers us back to Unitrade 34 where a note says, "Cover price is for proper single usage on cover to pay circular rate. Multiples on cover are quite common. Price for multiples on cover: $20 plus appropriate used singe value for each stamp on the cover."

So, in 2014, that would make it $20, plus $5 for each of the two Unitrade 66, and then an additional $3 for each of the Unitrade 96, plus whatever the used envelope is worth ($4 ??). I'd give it a total of $40 in 2014. However, envelope condition is lacking and Unitrade 96 are barely gradeable as Fine, so you decide.

No.

It sold, not to me, for $9.29 (US) plus shipping on 7-2-2023, thus a reasonable price.

My Scott Classic remains in the car's trunk and my 2022 International is currently out of reach. I will post Scott prices later today, but today is mainly a chore day, not a philatelic day.

For me, today is "avoiding local brush fires" day. I've been on voluntary evacuation twice in the last two days. All looks good right now, but it was very, very close two days ago.

Good luck and I hope you don't have animals too. It is an activity one does not understand until you go through it.

Been there a few times as well. Caldor fire burned within a few feet. The fire fight was called the Miracle in Christmas Valley, but really it was two truck companies assigned to each house making a last stand effort. The houses were saved and the fire jump over their heads to the other side of the valley but a house to house urban fire was stopped. That was the second there, here there have been four recent fires. Here it is a real job to evacuate due to the many animals.

Again, I wish you well and the ability to have a restful night's sleep soon.

Edit: Now seeing dry lightning storms coming. That is good for a new fire or two.

Hot where you are? Furnace Creek hit 126 degrees Fahrenheit for several hours today.

My take on the cover is that it's philatelic, the PSE and adhesives are all used out of period. I see the date of use as 1919, paying the correct rate to the US. It's mildly interesting for its novelty, I would say at $10 it sold on a good day.

Not necessarily philatelic. People used to be much more frugal in the old days and nothing was wasted. Agree on the rest.
