Hi everyone.

I am just wondering if there is any site devoted to the embossed revenue stamps of GB? Recently, I came across a small collection of these and have no idea what they are worth or when they were issues.

I am referring to stamps such as the ones found in this website.

https://www.bing.com/images/search?...IGRE&first=1

Is there a site that can give me an accurate date of issue and 'approximate' value? It is possible that I have a trade in the future but would like to know more about these embossed stamps.

Thank you

I have a modest collection myself (going back to Queen Anne). The two catalogs I have are The Impressed Duty Stamps of Great Britain, by Frank, Schonfeld, and Barber, and The Stamp Duty of Great Britain and Ireland volume 3 (1694 onward), by Frank and Schofield. They are fun to research.

How old are these revenue stamps? Forbin catalog covers revenue stamps of GB up to 1913.

Forbin covers adhesives. These go back to about 1694. The very early ones are valuable, but after about 1700 generally the only really valuable examples are for very large amounts, hundreds of pounds. Unless the document has value for content or signatures of course.

Hi everyone and thanks for your input.

I know that some are listed in the url I provided, but some of those types do not have a year at all on them and I can only guess what the time period might be.

Yes, Forbin does have them but I have only the 1915 reprint and the embossed types I am referring to are not covered completely, though some that I have are. I have also noticed that ebay is a bit of a loss because they can only show what is available at any given time and prices / bid starts or BIN prices have such a wide gap. For instance I have seen about 3 copies of some types as BIN prices and they can vary from, let's say, $10.00 up to $250.00 which I think is not even close to accurate.

Are there any catalogues that have a close to current CV on these?? Just wondering.

Thanks again all for your help.

Chimo

Why aren't you looking at sold items, instead of for sale items?

If I am not mistaken, 1915 is the latest edition of Forbin.

That is correct. All the originals are rare, which is why the reprint was made.
