This 1937 Duck, N.C. cover was purchased off of ebay and gifted to me by a friend.

Bertha Clift is a fairly well-known producer of these types of hand painted covers in this era but the promotional card inside is new to me so I thought I would share. There is also a nice personal note from Bertha to the addressee.

Adjusted for inflation Bertha made $2 per card in 2023 dollars. Seems quite cheap actually. Wonder how many she produced per week.

If you want to compare the value of a $0.10 Commodity in 1937 there are three choices. In 2022 the relative:
real price of that commodity is $2.04
labor value of that commodity is $5.09 (using the unskilled wage) or $5.52 (using production worker compensation)
income value of that commodity is $10.60
economic share of that commodity is $27.40
