I never saw a "cracked plate" for this stamp. There was only one plate used for the different printings (12 printings), and late proofs do not show such curved line/crack. Perhaps you can post a higher resolution copy so we can see if the line you refer to is blue or black. From the dot position in the right oval, most likely comes from the 8th column.
The 2 known flaws from the late printings are the burr above shoulder (pos 7) and the vertical-oblique scratch from top center to lower right of the main oval (see position 29 from the plating project mentioned by 51 studebaker).
What got my attention on this stamp is the centering and the extra large margins on all 4 sides. Probably one of the best example of this stamp. A scan of the back would also be useful.

The curved line is probably part of the poorly inked cancelation. The dark blue of the stamp giving it the illusion of a possible scratch. I have no references that mention such a scratch and have never seen one.

Attached is another enlarged view of the line, as well as a scan of the back of the stamp. Thank you Gilles, and others, for sharing your opinions and expertise. Note a small hinge remnant on the back.

The scan isn't sharp enough to see any good details. You need to rescan at a higher resolution (1200 dpi should be plenty), and then follow the guidelines for uploading a picture of the correct size.

To me, I am not seeing a plate crack. It could well be part of the cancellation or some type of inking error.

I am not familiar with this as a variety, I would have to see it in person. But, although I cannot be sure from a scan, the "ink bleed" from outer frame lines and some waviness of same ( plus an extra line at center right) suggests to me the outer frame may be painted in and maybe the stamp is possibly rebacked.

I agree with Glenn on this one. It looks to be a very nicely repaired stamp with added margins. The top frameline seems to be off, especially at the center and right. If it isn't, then it's a beauty of a stamp.
