Good morning!

I'm back with another stamp collection, this time the stamps are from Berlin. I think this collection will be more desirable than the DDR / East Germany stamps I mentioned before. I'm requesting your opinions on value for the whole set and whether the collection is worth taking to an auction house (in Canada) or just listing the stamps with binders on ebay (also in Canada).

Here is how my friend described these stamps:

"These stamps are all mint, no fingerprints on the gum and not one was hinged. Starts 1957 to the end of Berlin stamps 1990. Most single stamps are double and some stamp sets are double or triple ... plus two Binders ETB Berlin from year 1975 to year 1986 complete and year 1987+1988 3 times complete."

Photos below, 26 in all. They sure are pretty :)

Note: I have photos of the other 2 binders and can post them upon request but didn't want to overwhelm the thread!

When a buyer is looking at Berlin stamps ,they are looking for the "Berlin " overprints for the Occupation Zone ,then looking for the 1949 to 1953 issues like the Freedom Bell issues and others . Your stamps you showed are later issues and don't get any premium over what you friend paid .

Sad to say but these stamps will get about 25% of what was paid for them 10 or 15 years ago .

Pretty much what floortrader said. I bought a Berlin collection not long ago (CV of $1800) with many earlies including bells with all the clapper variations, overprints, plus semipostals, etc. Total price was $60 or 3% if catalog. I kept what I needed and gave away much of the rest.
