I suppose the Ld stands for Limited, but have no idea about the M.B.I.

I agree with Peter, the Ld would surely stand for Limited.

The I in MBI is going to be Insurance I'd imagine. Midland Bank? Manchester Birmingham?

It could be Mercantile Bank of India, previously called Mercantile Bank of India, London and China.
