A very nice postcard early US picture postcard... hand tinted in Japan, published by Hilo Drug Company in Hawaii...

Group in Koa Forrest, near Volcano House... No. 123

Also a nice postal history... at least for me... sent from Puunene HI, also with a transit postmark in Honolulu... arrived in Germany (Karlsruhe)... a lot of story told by only one postcard.

Great postcard and condition!! I also have a Hawaiian Postcard collection. I have never come across a "Hilo Drug Co." publisher. My father was born in Puunene, Maui. Thanks for sharing.

My very first image posting on SCF. Typical Hawaiian Girls (Beauties) Postcard.
Postcard date is written in the French style: 21st Day, December, 1908 and signed by "G Lufbery". I had no clue on that obscure signature "G Lufbery" until a Google Search was done. That opened the floodgates!!
Gervais Raoul Victor Lufbery (March 14, 1885 – May 19, 1918) was a French and American fighter pilot and flying ace in World War I. Because he served in both the French Air Force, and later the United States Army Air Service in World War I, he is sometimes listed alternately as a French ace or as an American ace. Officially, all but one of his 17 combat victories came while flying in French units.

More information on his time served in Hawaii can be found on Wikipedia.
Enjoy!

It would be interesting to know exactly what route that first card took to get to Germany.
