To all revenue stamp specialists.

In Thailand we do have to pay every year to the government a car license fee. We receive a sticker dated and with our car license plate number on it. This sticker has to be displayed in front of the car window. Can this be considered a revenue "stamp"? Or they being collected in other countries by revenue collectors?

Wikipedia:

Quote:
The Revenue Society has defined revenue stamps as " ...stamps, whether impressed, adhesive or otherwise, issued by or on behalf of International, National or Local Governments, their Licensees or Agents, and indicate that a tax, duty or fee has been paid or prepaid or that permission has been granted."

If that is the definition, I would say it should be considered a revenue stamp.

That is what makes it an interesting question.

Every bone in my body says "no!" But here is a definition of an organisation that represents (some) collectors of revenue stamps that makes it difficult to say "no."

Yes it is, totally. The US did the same thing at one time; they are listed in the Scott Specialized.

Many countries in Europe levy a tax for use of the motorways. You had*/have to buy a sticker to stick on your windscreen.

* Some are now digital.

I suppose a collector of fiscals will save the digital images/payments in their computer "Fiscals" folder.

Sorry revcpollector they are not the same. During WWII the feds charged a use tax for certain vehicles, thus they were allowed to use the restricted gasoline supplies. The US vehicle owners still paid the license fee to their local (state) jurisdiction as was normal and as so remains. There is no federal License Fee for US motor vehicles, except where the "local jurisdiction" is a federal, not state, area such as Washington, D.C. are In such case the payment of the license fee is shown by an undenominated sticker affixed to the license plate displayed upon the vehicle. Thus they are in fact not the same but different. Those non-denominated state issued license fee stickers are not Scott listed.
