Interests come and go in waves IMO. People here tend to be overzealous in proclaiming monumental shifts or death-knells.

Wind of changes - By the looks of the board topics recently discussed. It looks like +Topical collecting has overcome both Country collecting or WW collecting.

Not really. If you look at the member that is most active there, you will notice that member is posting at a rate that rivals that of rod222. So, that is not something new.

A couple of the most prolific posters of more general subjects haven't posted for a while. One is happily posting on another forum. One has a locked account. One is too busy with other things and may return, and OP, uncharacteristically, has not posted for five weeks.

Edit: added quote to clarify to which post this is a reply.

Yeah, Paul Floortrader has been really quiet. And haven't seen a post from Rod in a pretty long time (???).

Yes, also noticed that rod222 has been missing. His last post was on my birthday, 5/10/23. I sent him an e-mail through the forum about a month ago; no reply. Really miss his contributions and wit.

I referred to some regular posters to illustrate why it looks like SCF has become focused on thematics. I think thematics have become more visible for the reasons I stated: a few of the most prolific posters of worldwide material have fallen silent. I do not (yet) agree with the conclusion that SCF has become more of a thematic site. I agree with what revenuecollector posted at the top of this page.

Don explained the situation with Rod. I think we would best let the subject rest.

Change is one of life's three certainties. We all know what the other two are

Forums evolve, as do people.

I've been quieter because there's less being posted that I can help with, and I'm working on a mammoth project that, by the time it's finished, will have been years in the making. I'm actually almost at a standstill as far as collecting goes at the moment, though I still look in to see if I can help.
