How do you like to store the small stamp panes issued by the USPS? Vario pages, sheet protectors? I like using stamp albums but the one by Scott for small panes seems like a costly endeavor. Have you found another pre-printed small pane album?

I prefer Vario 2S stock pages. They have two pockets which hold the small panes -- usually such panes are found for low denomination stamps. Then I put them into an archival binder you can find at Staples or Best Buy.

I store all mine now in polypropylene plastic sleeves, I tried Vario pages, I put a insert so they can be back to back. Functional - not elegant.

What I want to do it find a nicer way to label them,

StateRevs - what would be the problem of using archival binders from Staples or Best Buy? According to Linn's getting a nice binder with non-PVC plastic and intended for long-term storage is fine --- https://www.linns.com/news/world-st...-basics.html

Also, glassine interleaves may have a high acid content which is not great for your stamps in the long run. I cannot say if this is true for current stock books which may produce low acide glassine interleaves, but I know those from over a decade ago show yellowing from their high acid content -- that cannot be good for your stamps!

One thing I do both for coin and stamp storage is have one or more silica bars to reduce humidity. It is quite effective as even here in NYC with the Air Conditioning, a few days of the year can make it difficult to keep humidity in the ideal range.

It's just that "archival" is to albums and paper as "organic" is to food. A term with no agreed meaning, frequently used by sellers as puffery, with no way for the consumer to judge its truthfulness. Unless you want to buy one album, mount material in it, wait 50 years, check for undamaged material, then buy more albums from the same source and mount more material.

I agree the term "archival" can be bandied about too freely but considering that the binders serve as a shell and one is using the same archival material with Vario (or another brand's) stock sheet as found in stock book made for most "amateur" stamp collections. I do it for fun first, profit and legacy second. TO achieve this I stick mainly with modern US and world stamps and avoid collecting errors.

Maybe in a few years I would consider getting one of the top stamp stock books for those stamps worth more than $50 just to help my heirs identify those stamps of some worth from those having not too much.
