Been a while since I considered rejoining hip as a seller. Has it gotten any better?

Why should it have changed? It was not acquired by the APS. The APS is just another seller on the platform. Other sellers' shops remain unchanged.

I'm interested in knowing that as well. I cancelled my store when they raised the rates earlier this year. For a casual retiree seller it just became impossible to make it profitable.

Has Hip changed their stance on not collecting sales tax or are they still in denial?

Pretty much the same. No specific enhancements to the website or sales programs in the last year that I can think of. Not sure on US taxes - I'm in Canada & Hipstamp supports me charging Canadian GST with different rates by province and then I report quarterly to Revenue Canada.

I'm what I'd call a medium-size seller (17,000 listings). My sales on Hipstamp dipped right after APS added it's 200,000+ listings (lots more competition) but that was temporary. Been pretty good since - although am trying to push more sales to our site and Delcampe, not being too dependent on one platform is prudent.

Hipstamp does not charge sales tax on a "marketplace" basis. They will (as they have since I opened my store in 2019) support sellers in collecting sales tax where they (sellers) have an independent obligation to do so. For me, that would be my home state of Ohio.

gmot, or paperhistory, do you use ebay and sync your lots? If so, I know how it works nowadays, is it at least reliable? The other thing I wonder about is if they still make up "was" prices. I would have a 20% discount sale but the items all claimed the original price was around double. I really dislike that particular feature. But hip seems to have quite a few people who like it and in the before time, it did alright for me. Seriously considering rejoining, but still not 100% sure.

I don't use the ebay sync as I sell very little on ebay - I know there was an issue with it previously but can't recall details or whether still the case. Never noticed a problem with discounts as you described - with all that I've run the original price looks fine.

I hope you are right about the "was price." Remembering now, it may have been in the premium auction where that was happening. It still looks suspicious.

Sorry to hear you say that green giant. But the technology at hip was never very advanced. At least based on the comments here it doesn't sound like they are doing much in the way of enhancements either.

I do use the sync feature (probably 95%+ of my sales are ebay but I sell a handful of things on hipstamp a month). It seems to work pretty well going from ebay to HipStamp. It used to be that if something sold on hipstamp, it would automatically get closed on ebay. That is no longer the case. I close them manually but I think hipstamp has created a utility to help with that.

I have not seen any issues with the "was" or any other discounting but I honestly don't pay much attention to the hipstamp store, which is just an inexpensive way to mirror my ebay store at low maintenance.

I sell postal history for the most part, and the buyers are at ebay.
