I would stay away from albums that have the mounts installed already. Reduces your flexibility when you find something unusual that has no specified place, Or your interests develop or spread to include multiple copies of the same issue. Finding more variations can be solved by inserting a blank page. It is difficult to create such a page that matches the prepared pages.

The problem I have with split back is finding the right height and the need for many sizes. Worldwide to 1970 has many different heights and I like a consistent 2mm border

Top loaders are cut to size but care has to be taken to get the correct size and a straight line. Split backs have nice top and bottom borders. They hold the stamp in frame better. The top loaders look off if the stamp moves

Clear mounts hide the cutting errors and show page and stamp. Some like the black frame though.

Vario pages mapped to printed pages need good coverage or you have pages with few stamps. You can custom arrange and write info on the left page using paper to help id stamps. I like album pages with info on same page as stamps

I use StarPages for stock book with left page of paper for Scott numbers and vario for collection of stamps, blocks, sheets that don't follow an album —ie mint stamps my dad bought me in Macau

To the OP, highly recommend stock sheets in typical 3 ring binders for the best flexibility and lowest cost. More importantly, DO NOT stack your stamps together like in your picture. The glue, humidity, and pressure, over time could ruin some of them. I was young when I collected and then stopped. Now many years later, I'm sorting through my boxes and have seen more than a few ruined stamps from stacking together. Good luck with your collection!

PS - Haiti uses stronger/stickier glue than most

My solution is to use Vario stockpages and in between create page keys to give the feel of an album without the cost of mounts and acid-free paper.

Stockpages just give so much more flexibililty in how to organize, and if I miss a stamp, very easy to just work the stamp in and then a quick page key redo in Album Easy.
