Scouting Stamps From Around The World

On November 6, 1985 Singapore issued a set of 4 stamps to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Girl Guide Movement. Each stamp shows a Singapore girl of different ethnicity as a Girl Guide. Stamps are Stanley Gibbons #s 512-5.

Around 1956, I was made to wear black face and stiff white gloves, with 5 or 6 other unfortunates at a big Cub Scout event.

Believe me, THAT is something you never forget.

Here are images of a stamp depicting a bugle, the Scouting emblem and hand sign, printed by photogravure, and issued by India on December 27, 1967 to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee (60th anniversary) of Scouting, Scott No. 460, and a cover bearing this stamp with a cachet commemorating the Gandhi Centenary Year ("Peace Through Friendship") and the Bharat Scouts and Guides Samagam ("Gathering"), postmarked with a special cancel in Pachmarhi, Madhya Pradesh, on June 1, 1970.

This 1991, 2500 zloty stamp of Poland is from a set of 4 commemorating the 80th anniversary of scouting in that country. The beginnings of scouting were difficult because in 1910, Poland was still partitioned territories belonging to Austria, Germany, and Russia.
