I found this stamp currently selling at Internet .The seller claims that his stamp has a similar error to the one sold at an auction. He says that his stamp has too a shifted background printing error. Is the information gaved by the auction catalog ,relevant to his stamp ?
The 1 stotinka stamp does show a registration error. The background colour has slightly shifted upwards and to the right. It is not nearly as prominent as on the 15 stotinki stamp.
I have my doubt that the claim that such an error is very rare is valid. Minor shifts are not uncommon when surface printed stamps are printed from two plates.
It is interesting to see the 1 stotinka stamp being handled by a cotton swap. The stamp is so heavily damaged and toned that it would not have made any difference if it would have been stuck on a dog's tongue.
It was interesting to me know if the sellers claiming that the stamp is a rare error , was correct. I can see the error there, but I was also not sure if the shifting was so prominent as he told me. Unfortunately the state of the stamp as you have said is very poor,so the sum asked for it is also not relevant to it's real market value. I can say that the handling of the stamp with a cotton swap is quite uncommon method .I haven't seen it before ,probably this could be explained with resourcefulness of the seller not with his ignorance.
