Would it be possible to divide the covers up topically that means by subject with France you have Art , wildlife, science, transportation famous people . You would reach a larger market then just people collecting France or the whole world . Just a thought |

Apart from issues such as a sports stamp showing a French athlete covering two themes, you, primarily, target thematic collectors that also collect FDCs rather than those who collect French FDCs. I am not sure Quote: You would reach a larger market then just people collecting France or the whole world . holds for FDCs as it holds for thematic stamps. You might lose more collectors of French FDCs looking for a range they do not have than you gain thematic stamp collectors that also collect FDCs. |

Hello, Suppleberry. I do encourage you to go to the Philately association in Niort. If they are good guys, they'll give you a 'heads-up' on the value and the market. It's better than flailing around in the dark.
They will (I presume) have all the catalogues you need and warn you of pitfalls. Show them everything because from here, with only a couple of photos, we can't really get a complete idea of any eventual hidden treasures although I do repeat that 50s on, there is not a lot of clearly moneyable material.
Bonne chance |

Ok so I now have a copy of the Yvert & Teller catalogue (2016 but at least it gives an indication) and have gradually been going through everything - I'm quite enjoying it actually, doing the detective work. As expected most appears to be worth v little but there are a few things so far which look slightly more interesting, for example some of the covers as below. Is it worth advertising these separately or should I just bunch them together with others but point them out specifically in the description ? Also should I group booklets together (there are a selection of red cross stamp booklets) ? Similarly timbres de service (I'm not sure exactly what these are but they're listed separately in the catalogue), is it best to batch them together as opposed to grouping them with other stamps of the same year. |

I'd group anything slightly more interesting with others, then show them on your lead ebay image. Red Cross booklets should be listed as a separate group. "Timbres de service" are issued for a couple of international bodies based in France - I wouldn't separate them from the other material. |

Hello again. Timbres de service are for international organisations such as UNESCO, Conseil de l'Europe etc, issued and used where these organisations have their headquarters. Check out your Red Cross booklets. If you are looking to moneying them and have the time, I would maybe keep 1952-1962 as individual lots; note 1962 2ème tirage,1970 variant ...
You have not finished enjoying yourself and, who knows, you might end up getting hooked and keeping the lot. klj |
