Got myself into a dumb fix. A buyer bought one of my stamps on HipStamp, but the stamp had actually sold on ebay right before and the sync feature wasn't in place. Been trying to contact the HipStamp people to see how to cancel and return the payment thru PayPal, but they never responded to my three messages and now are on "Holiday" - worthless people. Has anyone had this happen and how do I reverse the whole process? If this is an example of HipStamp "support", I am done dealing with them as a buyer or seller. Thank you very much in advance.

Can you not just refund the Paypal payment to the Buyer and explain that the item is no longer available? Once that is done you should be able to file a Hipstamp claim to request a reversal of their fees due to a cancelled sale. There should be no need to contact Hipstamp personnel to do any of this. |

Thanks for your reply. Tried to refund thru PayPal but there was no option to do that. HipStamp may not need to do anything, but they sure as hell should answer an inquiry sent three times to try to get a response. |

I found HipStamp to be completely unresponsive to support tickets when I was a seller. Just another of many reasons I abandoned the platform in the wake of the ebay 2-way sync debacle. It's why I've been so adamant against the APS getting in bed with Hipstamp as their ecommerce provider. Hipstamp is a garbage company on numerous levels. My fear is that the APS and its membership will learn this lesson the hard way. |

I made the egregious mistake of clicking on a HipStamp link a few weeks ago and it re-started the spam; I'm now getting an average of 4 per day. Last year I stopped going there and the spam eventually dropped off, but the flood gates have now re-opened. So now I have an email rule in place to 'auto-delete' any HS emails as the come in. Don

Yeah, their auto-opt-in by just visiting the site with no way to opt out universally is f*cking ridiculous. I'd love for someone to sue them for that garbage. |

Perhaps things have changed since I had a HipStamp store, but when I did, I could select the order which then had a link to the PayPal transaction for that sale. If I clicked that link and went through the PayPal login info it would give me an option to view the PayPal payment, partially refund it or totally refund it. I can't imagine that this possibility is no longer there. |

eyeonwall - As I noted above, PayPal is not giving me the option to provide a refund for some reason. Thank you all for your comments. |

I can't imagine that this possibility is no longer there. This is exactly the same as it was. In the Members Area, find the order in "Sold Orders", and the link to the PayPal payment should be in the top header of the order. If you are still unable to refund the order there, I have no idea. There is a time limit as to being able to refund the order. If you're past that limit, you could also send a payment equal to the refund directly to the buyer through PayPal, and then work out the cancellation of the order with Hip. Hope it works out for you! I just double-checked this with an order I recently received.
You need to refund through PayPal. Once you're logged in, look through your recent transactions. You should see the payment you received from that buyer. Click on that and wait for a detail window about that transaction to open up. When it does, scroll down a bit and you should see a button to refund the payment. Once you click on that, it will allow you to either do a full refund or to designate the amount of the partial refund. Note that PayPal will hold on to that $0.35 base transaction fee, but they'll reverse the rest. (Except maybe if it's an international payment? I think they keep more of that, if I'm recalling correctly (and I may not be).)
It looks like you can refund a purchase within 6 months of the original purchase date.
As for HipStamp, you can contact them that you had to cancel the purchase. I'm not sure of their policy in every case, but when I needed to cancel a large order because of some concerns about the buyer, HipStamp was able to confirm that I had fully refunded to the buyer and then they reversed my HS transaction fee. |

Thank you again for your comments, but again, there is no refund button in PayPal in the details of the transaction. I have contacted PayPal and will figure out how to handle it. Happy holidays to all. |

Thanks for the correction.
Do please let us know what PayPal says when you're able to communicate with them. It certainly seems odd. |
