That depends on what the collection looks like.
If you search this forum for
inherited stamp collections, you will find the majority hold very little value. Often the stamps are low quality that dealers or auction houses will not have any or much interest in. People often
inherit stamp 'collections' from someone who is dear to them and expect that person's love of his collection reflects value. The sad truth, however, is that many people find or
inherit stamp 'collections' that are hardly worth the postage to send it anywhere to be sold. Without having any impression of the collection, statistics are the only lead we have. That is not helpful to you, as every collection is different.
Occasionally, a very nice collection pops up. Depending on how extensive and valuable it is, a stamp dealer or auction house may be an option.
You could post some images of the older stamps. If it is an international collection do so for the USA, Great Britain, Germany, and France (many members collect these areas). If it contains South and Central America, that might also be interesting to share. The images will help members to understand your collection and to better advise you.
You might also visit a local stamp club (or stamp exhibition) and ask members (dealers) if they want to have a look at your collection to tell you what you have.
