Variety On Canada Unitrade (Scott) # 842 Found

I was reviewing my collection of first day covers for varieties and tagging as stated in unitrade catalogue and came across this variety, on two of same fdc's. I thought it looked like a go pro camera attached to tree trunk, or bullseye, but then realised it looks more like "poppy growing on tree." Lets just call it Poppy on tree trunk . Has anyone else seen this one before?

Several years ago a Canadian member of this forum by the handle of Wert ( may he rest in peace ) was calling these "donuts". They seem to be happening quite a lot on certain printing techniques

These discs are known to occur in lithography printings of the Machin stamps of the United Kingdom.
From what I can find, this stamp was printed in offset lithography.

I went through 555 used copies looking for this new variety. None found.

I found a similar donut, but a bit further up the tree trunk.

Peter4522, yes may Robert (wert) rest in peace. He enjoyed the hunt for these types of things and made things "lively" and with some "fun" in this group. Yes, they have been called donuts, but usually I believe they have some white around or in them.
Robin, nice, I have not had a chance to forward the image of the two I have found on cover, as well as other items. As for mint and used I will try and go through a couple hundred this weekend. Thanks.

If the red-brown of the trunk has been made up from two colours, a disk in the top colour would not show white but red if that was the first colour printed.
