Hello. I hope this is the right place for this question. In a collection my brother and I bought a few years ago was this Postal Card. I believe this is a UX27D Die 2 Postal Card. At least I hope so because it is a more expensive card. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Bon

Here is the reverse. I assume this is unused?
Thanks again,
Bob

Yes it is UX27D.
Condition is "preprinted".
Also, excellent imaging to show front, back and close-up views.

Great! Thank you for the confirmation. And the compliments on the scans.
Pretty cool find for us.

I am not sure about a grey rough surface. I did not see anything about that in the Scot catalog.
The scan is a lot lighter than the actual card in hand.

As for any valuable philatelic item a certificate from a recognized authority is recommended. APEX or Philatelic Foundation are recommended. I am partial to APEX for postal stationery items. Details for submission to APEX are available here: https://stamps.org/services/stamp-authentication.

Per the UPSS catalog UX27D is a recut of the regular UX27 and UX27D only occurs in dark green on grayish white card stock. Measurements are Height 24mm, Inscription Length 58mm, Overall Design Length 97.0-97.5 mm. Paper is horizontally fibered. Stamp impression is distinguished by heavy hair lines with que and coat lines distinct and coarse.

There are no known counterfeits or fakes of this card but there are misidentifications of the normal UX27 based on paper. Of course the openness of the que is a typical giveaway as to the identity.

Bill,
Since this is easy to ID, not faked, etc., I see little reason to ever get a used or preprinted version of UX27D certified. Am I missing something here?

Much easier to sell with a certificate because a good certificate will include condition information. Otherwise, yes, John, it is easy to ID, etc which makes a certificate moot for ID.

I am not going to get a cert, at least not right now. I just wanted o make sure I identified it correctly. I see even though the "book value" is $550.00, past sales on ebay are a lot less.
Anyway, this is going in my personal collection for now. And I will be posting more stamps to make sure I identify them correctly.........especially some pre stamped Postal envelopes.
thanks!
Bob
