Hi to all stamp lovers out there, I am coming from Croatia, just started into this hobby, inherited some part of collection from my and my wife's parents and bought some on-paper and off-paper stamps from local stores and Nordfrim so far, nothing special and currently trying to build Yugoslavia and Nordic countries.

I'd love to gather some friends here for stamp swapping and occasional correspondence, hopefully that happens with time :)

I wondered if anyone would be willing to exchange for kiloware I recently bought from Nordfrim, specifically Denamrk 3kg bag of on-paper stamps. I noticed most are 1930+ but there really is a lot of various stamps. I picked through all 3kgs for any stamps that are off-paper. Basically I have around 1kg on-paper stamps left I haven't gone through (I did sort them from off-paper stamps, but never actually taken a look what is on-paper) and that 1kg is something I'd like to swap with someone. Not necessarily whole 1kg of course, I can split that anyhow someone likes.

Below is example how the bag and stamps looked like and if anyone is willing to swap I can send photos of how the lot looks like (I am currently not at home so that's why I didn't post the photos of actual stamps).

Countries I am interested in collected used stamps of:
Norway
Sweden
Finland
USA
UK

It doesn't matter to me if someone wants to swap for on-paper or off-paper stamps and of course swap ratio depends on our agreement, so please, if anyone is interested, post your swap ratio proposal.

Hopefully this helps me and someone else as well expand their collection :)

VerZakes,

Collecting for the enjoyment of collecting, whatever that might be, is the name of the game. Don't hesitate to ask questions especially if you need basic information and especially more advanced sources of information for any possible topic. You should be able to find folks on this board a little further along on their collecting journey glad to share experiences.

My personal bias is a used stamp loses the story of its journey in the postal service when it is removed from the cover it transported to its destination. Collecting postal history adds a whole new aspect to your journey in our hobby. Sounds like you are a perfect candidate to become a postal history collector?

Wishing you many enjoyable future days in our hobby. Russ

Croatia is an interesting country to collect as it was for a while taken as a dead country but came back to life. I visited it in 2002 when the war was over but the tourist industry had not rebounded. I had Dubrovnik all to myself and its inhabitants. The guidebooks warned that normally they advise people to get off the beaten path but not there because of landmines. I was saddened by the mix of ruins ancient and modern. A side trip to Mostar was traumatizing: they were clearly not ready for visitors so I took the next bus back to Split.

Thank you all for your warm welcoming. Croatia today is a very stable (economy wise) and beautiful (nature wise) country. But the postal services are slowly dying, as more and more people are simply shipping from kiosk to kiosk, a specific service that works in small countries such as ours. Also stamps are almost not used anymore for package shipping inside country, not sure why, some special adhesive labels are put and that is it, thats how my last few packages were sent. Therefore it is very hard to obtain used stamps from 2015 onwards, I get some through company mail, but nothing special, just a few of them a month, sometimes none. I do have quite a lot of duplicates from cca 2005-2010 and after some time I am looking forward to exchange that with community here. Thank you again and I am looking forward to discussing various topics on this forum!

Welcome to the forum VerZakes! Great members here with tons of stamp knowledge. My wife and I visited Croatia in 1986 before the troubles, staying near Pula and driving around, even got as far as Lake Bled in Slovenia. Beautiful country and great people.
Regards
