As best as I see from Scott is that plate number coil stamp are only valued at a different
rate than say a mint number coil. Is this correct or not?

I think if you saw it in Scott it is true! It is especially true if the PNC's are still on the envelope. You can find out more on www.pnc.org .

Plate number coil stamps were first issued in 1981 and are normally valued in the Scott Specialized as used singles and mint strips of 3 and 5 with the plate number on the center stamp. They also have value on first day covers and some commercial cover usage, especially with purple machine cancels.

I've collected them since 1988 and have an extensive PNC collection posted on my website (link below).

I think the link that Peter meant to post is www.pnc3.org, the Plate Number Coil Collectors Club.

You actually have no question here as the two terms I highlighted in the quote of your words have the same meaning and are referring to the same stamps.

Here are examples, early in history with number and line which makes a line pair and a no line printing with a letter and number plate number combination.

Were you trying to ask about MINT PNC listing prices versus USED PNC listings?

Walkman, yes, I had the link incorrect. Your link did not work correct either - here it is again: www.PNC3.org .
