Found this signed UN #38 in a box lot.
For some reason this signature looks vaguely familiar to me but I cannot place it.
Does anybody recognize the signature?

According ro my old Michel katalog the SS was printed by Waterlow & Sons
and the designer was C. Bottiau
No engraver noted but that is usually the case for this British printer.

I got this below from ebay and you can see the signature Claude Bottiau written
on the bottom.

Usually these philatelic items are signed by either the designer or if
engraved then the engraver or in some cases both.

Obviously the name on your SS is not Claude Bottiau.
I checked all the known stamp engravers listed on page https://goscf.com/t/9106&whichpage=234#530138
and none end with the letters aut ?

Or it could be a delegate or U.N. postal official present at the First Day ceremony.
One could creatively read the name as "Rittenhaus"
