Quote: Very common material... Yes, it is common but interesting nonetheless. In fact, I'd say the early issues of any of those countries created from the breakup of the Austro-Hungarian empire are very interesting. The fact they are common and thus relatively cheap only adds to their appeal. |

Agreed. The Mucha designs are at once basic and very attractive. Many uncommon stamps are, off course, deadly dull. |

I agree with GeoffHa. Mucha was very popular with art lovers and stamp collectors because he was good. |

I understand what you are saying but respectfully disagree. In my opinion, the designs are outstanding. From that standpoint, whether they are common or not is irrelevent. |

Since tastes differ, there will almost always be someone who holds the opinion that a stamp is outstanding. When all stamps are outstanding it defeats the qualification 'outstanding.' |

When all stamps are outstanding it defeats the qualification 'outstanding.' agree completely. without an adjective in there, outstanding would normally refer to quality or rarity, something that is exceptional, unless it says something like outstandingly bad, beautiful, good etc. i would personally refer to design as beautiful. but then again, i'm not native english. never the less, the title made me think something else. |

Just curious, what would be an example of a real "outstanding" Czechoslovakian stamp? |

The stamps are common but being definitives, you know I like them. I prefer more valuable sets, but I have nothing against a vintage complete set of definitives (or dues, officials, postal tax, air post) even if worth only a nominal amount. |

For me at least "outstanding" would be one of the rare perf varieties of the 1920 carrier pigeons or the full set of perfs for the 1919 Bohemian Lion and Mother and Child semi postals... :) They are both quite difficult to acquire. |
