Anybody know anything about Post Haste? Or any other modern private delivery services? Has anything been published on these companies?

According to Google Post Haste is a courier service. Many entries come up under Google so try it and see which ones are appropriate for your query.

This leads into a somewhat broader discussion as to first class items being delivered by private companies. Were the rules prohibiting letter delivery by private carriers changed some years ago when UPS and FedX introduced their overnight "letter" services?

The examples of privately-carried first class mail I have seen from the 1940s and early 1950s have proper U.S. postage on them which was privately cancelled.
The example here has a zip code, so is somewhat later, yet does not seem to show proof the USPOD/USPS got their share.
