I've posted this where the one cent and three cent 1851 specialists hang out.
Given what I found out from a literature Dealer who handles these things enough to really know the score, I am glad to hear that Frajola has made them available online. The seller I contacted, not an
ebay guy, said his price tag on a clean set of
originals was $3000. So figuring a set of photocopies at 1/10 of that at best would make a clean complete set of them price out at $300. I would like to get these into the hands of someone who can make better use of them than me.
The three binders are rather heavy, so shipping would amount to something. I'm figuring some percentage of the low end plus shipping If you are a specialist in such things contact me (you know the drill) and let's see if we can work something out. (We can swap pics first). Don't hesitate to look into it, you might be surprised.
While you're at it, there's a complete "intact" copy of volume 2 of Ashbrook's study of the 1c of 1851 (Lindquist, 1938). If that might be relevant to something.
AH, I just found the matching Volume 1 of the Lindquist Ashbrook work. This one has a dust jacket, but the two make a closely matched set. All pages are clean and accounted for. We'll make them a pair apart from the Special Service.
