Don will be missed. I have one of the small lamps with a lampshade covered in used US Presidential series (Prexies) stamps that Don made as a give-away prize on Stamp Smarter. I think about Don every time I look at that thing. |

It was with great sadness that I read of Don's death this morning. I always looked forward to his to his posts on controversial topics, as I found him to be a paragon of equanimity and reasonableness. I traded stamps with him a couple of times and I think we both thought that we got the better deal. And if that isn't the sign of a good trade, I don't know what is. My sincerest condolences to Don's wife, family and friends. If it is any comfort, Don will live on in our memories, and his phenomenal website stampsmarter.org. May his memory be a blessing -David |

I only knew him as 51studebaker and I instantly think of his car avatar. One of the most active members to me with always something interesting to say. I liked his posts about having a run of Big Blues "just for fun" I'll miss him. |

So sad to see this. This forum is where I started my love for stamp collecting. He was patient with me as a novice who knew nothing. He will be missed and I'm thankful for all he taught me through the forum. Rest in Peace Don. Nora. |

I worked with Don on the stampsmarter tagging database. It start as a simple request from him. Something to the effect of do you have a spreadsheet of your info. Didn't realize what Don was getting into. Ha ha. he was awesome to work with and helped tremendously with the effort. I sat in on one of the zoom meetings the club Don belonged to during Covid. I am very glad I did as I got to meet him face to face, virtually at least. I miss working with him. Condolences to his family. |

Don will be sorely missed. The magnitude of his contribution to our hobby all the more amazing given his long history of physical adversity. Like so many others here, his work impacted me directly and I will forever remember him for it. May he rest in peace.

So sorry to read this... We both shared a passion for digital philately, and though we had many differing opinions and approaches with the way we saw future of collecting, I'll surely miss Don's presence. Not sure how many know, but Studebaker's motto was "Different by Design". That he indeed was.
My condolences to Don's family. |

So sad to hear this. I only knew Don as 51studebaker, who always instructed me when I post on pointing hand auxiliary markings. His database on stampsmarter was the first-to-go for me. A big loss to the community and the philatelic society. Rest in peace Don. |
