jaxom, I concur with your assessment of StateRevs 83R1. Interesting to me how some of the recuts Neinken describes either have worn away from printing or are from an early or later plate. It's easy to see the recut/slip center of the right frame line, but other slips or recuts above and below are either very faint or worn away.

Also the guide dot from 73R1 above sticks right out there. That and the plating mark in the top of the "A" of postage is visible thought faint.

Chipshot, I would say that your stamp is 8L1. You can see a line above the upper right guide dot. You can see the recut n the upper left corner and bottom right corner.

PS: Moyock, thanks for confirming 83R1.

This is another that I have using a previously saved image. the quality may not be adequate for analysis as it was some time ago and the stamp is not in hand.

Here is an interesting pair that I found on Siegel.
The first stamp is higher than the stamp on the left and on the right.
This alignment only occurs on column 4 of the left pane and column 7 of the right pane.
Checking the guide dot, the only match was at 47R1. The guide dot is unique.
That makes the pair 47-48R1.

Then I found this block of 4 that has the same guide dot on the upper right stamp.
That makes the block 46-47 -- 56-57R1.
Unfortunately, the guide dot is cut off on 57R1.

Here is the guide dot.

jaxom, you never cease to amaze me! =)

Nice finds! If you're like me, I'd have to sell off body parts to purchase that block of 4!

Chipshot, unfortunately your previously saved image doesn't have enough detail to be exactly identified. Thanks for showing what you have.

jaxom - nice catch on that interesting guide dot.

Fortunately, for #17 and #36, there are quite a few multiples, even blocks to be had. Also tons of horizontal pairs.

I might call your attention to this - Siegel sale 1316 lot 6388. You can grab the bigger file from Siegel's website. This is plate 1 #36.

Found this on USPhila auction site. Says it's Positions 61-63/71-73/81-83L1.
Haven't verified yet.

I have a third 12 cent which I am posting here. It appears to have some strengthening on the top right frame line and may have some on the bottom inner frame line.

Any further information on the stamp is appreciated. I hope to be able to find the third stamp I have in a while. Would posting a perforated variety be welcome here? Let me know.

spqr - I'm happy you got that cover. That's a terrific usage & franking. That was on my shopping list in that sale, but I passed it as I was focusing on some other things. I'm glad we didn't fight each other over it.

If there was a fight, you would have won. I already had this cover, but wanted to upgrade since the cover below has no origin postmark (probably NYC foreign mail desk). Sorry, I don't know the plate position of the stamp.

Txstamp, that block of 28 is interesting. With the perforations where they are, I cannot use the block for spacing charts but I can use it for guide dots. The top row is 4L1 - 10L1.
