Scratching my head. Two "lost" orders from Hip arrive today that were ordered on May 14, 2023 and postmarked May 15, 2023. What in tarnation is going on at the USPS?
Guess my Lebanon and Cook Islands stock books get some more filler, but 11 months? Good lord.

So the OP shares absolutely nothing about whether these are letters or packages, nor the origin or destination, nor an illustration, etc., yet we all seem to know exactly who to blame without any specfics. Really guys? |

Congressional hearings with PMG this week (?) say they are having SIGNIFICANT issues with on time delivery in Georgia due to a 'reboot' of processing protocol.. Maybe it got stuck the that loop??? |

John Becker,
Just two standard letters, one from Canada and one from Wisconsin. I live in Florida. Nothing like a purchase from some far-flung country to another. The real irony is that both arrived from two different destinations 11 months after being mailed on the same day. As I mentioned, both were postmarked on May 15, 2023 so they were clearly in the possession of the USPS that day. Pure speculation, but would guess there was a lost something at a sorting facility that handles mail from both Quebec and Wisconsin. 11+ months seems excessive though. That said, the stupid kiosks we are forced to use here don't help either. Had another three deliveries last year that all didn't arrive in my mail kiosk slot last year that were supposedly delivered on the same day. Guessing they were dropped in the wrong slot and probably sold by the person who got them.
That said, am not a fan of the USPS. To be fair, they do get 99.99% of stuff right; maybe not as expeditiously as some may want, but they ultimately do a pretty good job. I also deal with them in my day to day work/career. I've been told multiple times by postmasters that they simply can't deliver mail to new communities I develop as they just don't have the staff, so "just tell your residents they have to stop by the local office to pick up their mail." Then they demand that we put shades over the kiosks they require us to install to make it more efficient than mailboxes. And housing goes up up up.
Apologies for the rant. End of another stressful week. :-) The real issue though is as a collector/buyer, I want to be the guy that pays his bills and does not come off as some scam artist claiming to have never received items that I paid for and legitimately want. Not actually receiving stamps can (and in some cases legitimately should) create distrust in the seller/dealer to collector/buyer relationship. I can control what I do, but the mail is not one of them. I want to be the guy that pays for a purchase immediately, always leaves positive feedback, and handles issues when they arise professionally and with courtesy; only resorting to negative feedback or whatever might be akin to that as a last resort. Alienating sellers is bad for my additction....errr...hobby. |

There was a cover posted here the other day with a marking "Found in supposedly empty equipment". It could have been a mail sorting machine that got jammed like a copy machine and sent out for repair without realizing there was still some unsorted mail inside the machine.
Or it could have been a non-empty mail tray that was put into storage along with a pile of empty trays and just now discovered.
Any number of things could have gone wrong, and although there a lot of the current PMG's policies that I don't agree with, I can't put the blame on him for this one, except maybe for short staffing.
Great news that you got the letters. I have two items of lost mail from earlier this year that I have given up on, but your experience inspires me with hope that they may still turn up someday. |
