Hello, first time poster!

Does anyone know what the paper quality of the Indian 4 Anna Litho printed stamp is? Is it quite thick?

Thank you!

Hello. I'm afraid that won't mean much to most of us. Can you provide a scan of the stamp in question, catalogue number etc?

Maybe it was 4 Anna Green Gables?

Welcome, Ramsey G. They're having a little fun at your expense because this was posted in the Canada area and not in the general worldwide classic area.

You're asking about the 4A printed in Calcutta during the East India Company administration. All are on EIC-watermarked paper. There are lots of forgeries, and there were several reprints over the ensuing decades.

Do you already have a resource that shows the four head dies and two frame dies? Can you post a scan of your stamp?

Thanks cjd!

I'm very new to this and accidentally posted in the wrong group while trying to work out what to do, oops!

I do have the stamp, it is in my late Father in Laws collection. I'm guessing it's a forgery as it was just shoved in a folder. I have done a bit of reading up about it and learnt a bit about the dies. It looks good, but is on quite a heavy weight paper which also makes me think its just a nice print of one. Let me take a pic.

Thank rtvstamps!

That's exciting, I thought the thicker paper would make it more likely to be a forgery, not the other way round. Just wondering why my Father in Law had it mixed in with a load of other stamps?

I should probably take it to a dealer to get a proper assessment, thank you again!
