I am trying to locate Scott listings on some German Occupation Stamps. For example: I have a 1967 Scott catalog. Where might stamps like this be shown? Thanks

The illustrated stamp is listed by Scott under "Russia, Issued Under German Occupation". This stamp is Scott #N12 (2024 Scott Classic value is $12 for Mint Hinged).
The entire set of N1-12, of which this stamp is the highest/key value, catalogs in Scott for $22 for Mint Hinged. A NH set catalogs for $65; Scott does no supply individual NH values for the stamps in the set. The application of the NH premium-ratio is usually not even -- the higher-catalog-value stamps usually hold the majority of the NH premium value.
For individual NH values, look at the listing for this set in the Michel catalog (which I don't have handy at this moment).

The overprint, "Postgebeit Ob. Ost" is short for Postgebiet Oberbefehlshaber Ost, or Postal Area Commander-in-Chief East. |

Per Michel there are 3 varieties of this issue. You have 12Ba or 12Bb (25 perforation holes horizontally), depending if the overprint has a shiny or matte finish. 12A (26 perforation holes horizontally) is the good one with a CV of 500 euros for never hinged. |

Thanks so much.
I did not expect German stamps to be listed under Russia. I see now that there are some others also listed under France.
For the moment, it is confusing for me. Do I include them in a German collection or in French and Russian Collections.

Then, now looking at France, there is the case of this set (N1-N7). BTW: Does anyone have an image of the points up and down types? |

John2142...
Yes, occupation stamps can be listed in unexpected places in the catalogs. There does not seem to be a "perfect" answer as to under which single country they "should" be listed. The stamps were controlled/issued by one country for use in territory that belongs/belonged to another country. When I am emperor, they shall be listed under both countries (utilizing identical catalog numbers).
Under which country you should put them in your collection is completely up to you! That is a great thing about stamp collecting: You can do whatever you want to do.
Have fun.

Quote: For the moment, it is confusing for me. Do I include them in a German collection or in French and Russian Collections. Nothing confusing about it: do you want to show the German occupation of Russia, or do you want to show how Russia was occupied by Germany? What's your point of view? I'd say the general tendency, is to place such stamps with the occupying power, not the occupied, since people lean towards grouping together the stamps of the issuing nation or same source (the one "in charge"). But it's ultimately up to you. In this specific case, you have a regular-issue German stamp, specifically overprinted for use in a German-controlled area. TLDR: it's a German stamp, not a Russian one. |

Tentatively, I would list under the country that issued them. Here is another set I can not find so far: |

john2142 ... does your 1967 Scott include an index and are Jersey and Guernsey listed in the index? Start there. It is good to know what tools you already have. |

It does have an index. It appears to me that the 1967 Scott catalog I have is a combination of two volumes and thus does have two indexes.
Guernsey and Jersey I believe are the British Channel Islands. Have not found their listings so far. |

"Estonia German Occupation. Scott N3 - N5"
Interesting. My 1967 catalog only lists N1 and N2.
