I've got a postcard bearing CDS Ottawa, Ont., Aug 20, 1941 accompanied by "Victory" slogan in Morse Code in my collection and would be grateful for any info on the use of the slogan with CDS's in Canada and possibly in the other dominions.

Many thanks

Florian

This thread on Morse Code illustrates one from Calgary on the first page,
https://goscf.com/t/81460&whichpage=1
Which I recopied here:

And here are two others from Halifax and Quebec:

These are all machine cancels from a "Perfect" brand machine common in Canada and which has some resemblance to the Universal Stamping Machine Company's machines more common in the U.S., but the year date is slightly taller in the Perfect machines.

I am unaware of a list of these with date ranges, but readers far more knowledgeable on Canadian slogan cancels may know of a reference. Overall, they are very common and I suspect one could quickly assemble a near-complete collection via ebay (or merely collect data from there). A quick review shows examples available from Edmonton, Montreal, Saint John, Saskatoon, Toronto, Victoria, and Winnipeg.

Thank you very much, John Becker and "22crows", for most useful info.

Now I am aware that V Morse Code slogans on machine cancels kept appearing
on mail in Canada and elsewhere throughout WWII.

All I am still trying to find out is the earliest use of it in Canada (and perhaps elsewhere).

I'll be back again on Friday.

Many thanks to both of you once more.

Florian
