I have 2 remarks about these stamps....

1st- The cancelled stamp looks like either it's a lighter shade pink or faded red....

2nd- My opinion of the cancelled stamp is that it's a double strike ( the mesh/fishnet lines in the outer ring ) . Scott's has no entry for either a subtle shade difference or double strike....can anyone point me either to another reference book or maybe pass on the info about double strike design? I bought these very cheap (.90 cents) and was wondering at the time if my eyes had finally failed me....

My next step is gonna be trying to figure out if it's a fake

There is some variation in the shade, from deeper to lighter rose, that is normally found. Michel specialized does not distinguish between shades for this issue.

Re the doubling, Michel says "von der 5, 10 und 15 soldi gibt es vorderseitige doppeldrucke, davon einer im blinddruck.", which I read as there's a "blind double printing" found on for those. CV is 600 Euros. Whether that's what you have I'm not sure, having never seen one of them. You could try checking some Austrian/Italian auctions for examples.
