Trying to lock down the date. Any help to translate.

Based on other covers in the group, I'm guessing 1939/40. Wasn't long after all US military and maybe the embassy was evacuated.
RM2c - Navy rate: Radioman second class.

If my eyes are not playing tricks on me:

Day - 23
Month - 1
Year - 29 (based on the ROC calendar, where 1912 is Year 1)

So Jan 23, 1940

Can you verify that the post office was Chungking in the post mark and not posted elsewhere.?
