You have misconstrued my comments about the abilities of various certifying agancies to certify shades/colors. To me,

Quote:
Verify ... color

Isn't a significant trigger for them as much as "Is this stamp carmine rose or carmine?" Inquiries must be very specific. Note that most of the replies to this thread have been slanted toward "lake or not".
If you want examples of the common shades, I would recommend curtailing expenditures on certs and spending the same on purchasing multiple examples and the common shades will come naturally.

Anyone can 2nd guess anything.

Once again, for comment, "So, I sent in 716 to get expertised for color verification. I got the cert back and no color is listed on the certificate . Scott catalog notes Sc 716 as carmine rose and on the very next line carmine - still under the 716 listing. How do I know which color mine is?? Shouldn't a color be listed on the certificate if color verification is asked for and 2 colors are listed for Sc 716? "

It's plain and simple.

Why don't you go back to the expert certifier and ask them why they didn't make the color distinction you were expecting?

Though something tells me their answer is going to be along these lines:

Quote:
There would be no expectation of any entity differentiating between the two minor shades of carmine rose vs carmine, but rather only between those two collectively versus the scarce lake variety.

Before I go any further, what im trying to find out is, what is the "norm" when an application is sent in asking, in part, for color verification? Thats why I asked what I asked. The expertiser didn't have a problem with what I was seeking, otherwise I would have received a request for clarification - I guess....

yet they didnt. they listed NO color - when color verification was asked for. I would think if there were no expectations, they would have said that.

Humm, just noticed this on APS site:

Guess that answers the question. They just didn't provide it. Also, according to PSE, after explaining what happened , I was told by them that their certs indicate shade of the stamp in the identifying line.

You have a question that ONLY Apex can answer. Ask them. Then get back to us. Continued postings here accomplish nothing as we are all 3rd parties to your complaint. Sorry to be blunt, but at some point .....

Yes, you are right. In looking back, I thought I had put in. They told me they "shoulda, probably should have, well maybe it most likely should have, etc…, included it" in one of my previous replies. I forgot to add it. BUT, I'm still waiting for a definitive answer when I then just noticed according to their own site that it should have been included.

To me, if it's on their site, question answered. It now a matter of if they reissue the cert with color ID added.

Updated certificate enroute to state carmine rose. Also, part of the responsibility I think for some confusion - I have been working with the specialized Scott catalog where 2 colors are listed for Sc716 while the Scott US catalog only lists 1 color. However, that being said, color was supposed to be to be called out on cert. Hope this helps someone else as much as it's now helped me!
