The number of pages between each varies based on what your pages look like; you may wind up using all five, or none at all. All depends on how many pages you put into the binder, the number and layout of stamps on each page, etc.

I have been using Lighthouse Perfect binders for over 40 years … I have over 30 of them for the 3 countries I collect .

While they can hold up to 120 pages with mounts , they can tend to bow out and get hard to put into their slipcases if too full not to mention spacers and stamps of course . When starting a new album , I use probably 10 or more to keep it flat while adding new pages . As for the US , I collect singles as well as mini sheets and find an average of 5 modern years ( 2019-2023) will fit with 3 or more spacers in a single album .

I use the spacers as needed to keep the album relatively flat while laying on a table which lets the pages turn easily but still manageable when putting back into a slip
Case .

It depends.

If your stamps are mounted with hinges, the thickness of each pages will be substantially thinner than if you use stamp mounts. Therefore you will need to put the cardboard spacers in less often than for pages with mounts. Stamps mounts add significant thickness, so fewer pages fit into any binder you use and you'll use more stamp spacers than if you use only hinges. One spacer every 20 pages or so for stamp hinges may work, while you'd need a spacer for every 15 pages, maybe even fewer pages, with stamp mounts.

I've counted the maximum number of pages that can fit comfortably into Lighthouse post binders. These are not the springback or ring binders, but the two-post binders. LH claims a maximum number that to me seems too high. Manufacturers always do this, as we know. I came up with "about 75-80 pages" comfortably in each LH two-post binder give or take, depending on whether I use stamps mounts or not. Mounts always mean you can put fewer pages into an album binder, no matter what brand of album you are using and you'll need a few more cardboard spacers because pages with mounts will be thicker.

How many spacers to you need for 80 pages? That's up to you. Use whatever number you need to avoid the pages bulging too much. You're aiming to kind of flatten out the pages by making the spine side of the pages about as thick as the middle of the pages where all those stamps and mounts are located. Without spacers, the middle of the album bulges out weirdly far more than the inside of the pages along the spine.

I find one spacer every 15-20 pages sometimes works, fewer pages if I use mounts. Whatever number works is what works. I really never count the number of pages, but just add a page spacer wherever its needed.
