Hello fellow philatelists,

I have a question regarding this item: Is this a regular paper with the PODUS 82 watermark on which U117 is printed? What makes this particularly intriguing is that it was sent and postmarked in 1932, a full 50 years after the original issue date. Your insights would be greatly appreciated!

Collector did not need the envelope and decided to realize the value of postage, collector dipping into collection due to finances or a family member of a deceased collector is using what was available during the difficult great depression years.

Watermark is actually abbreviation for United States Post Office Department 1882. Watermark was used on paper manufactured during the 1882-1886 contract period. As no envelopes were ever demonetized after the Civil War, they remain valid for postage even today!
