Spain: Special Handstamps - Matasellos Turisticos Moderno

I've been looking into Spain recently and by chance came across the matasellos turisticos.

We may all receive mail from Spain from time to time or send a card from there, when we are on vacation. Dropped in the post box, this might result in a disappointing cancellation.

This doesn't necessarily need to happen, as in fact there is a wide network of local pictural special postmarks available.

I wanted to know more about this and did some research. I found information on this on two websites

a) that of the post office - but only the stamps from the last three years are shown there
b) that of a private initiative, which shows all special postmarks since 2014, including a map view

The addresses of the post offices are listed as well.

In my opinion, an excellent and unusually rich offer.

The tourist and advertising postmarks have always caught my attention, not only from Spain but from the countries that I usually collect (not older than 1980). To locate some of my advertising/tourist postmarks from Spain I have frequently used this website. I hope it can help you although they are cancellations between 1920 and 1939.
