I would like to show you one of the latest additions to my collection. Although at first glance it may seem like a rather damaged and ugly stamp, I can assure you that it is very striking…or at least that is what it seems to me…it caught my attention when I saw it among the piles of weight stamps that I usually look for…maybe it was because of its orange colour, its size, its cancellation or the whole set itself…but I decided to take it mainly because of the "Service" overprint that indicated to me that it could be some kind of Commonwealth issue, which would be entertaining and more or less easy to identify. Thus, I managed to locate it in the Gibbons catalogue as a 2d Orange from the year 1866 from India, SG#O11, Optd by Military Orphanage press, Calcutta, a series of stamps with high values. Maybe mine doesn't look right but I am very happy with the find.
