A few days ago I checked out the latest copies of Scott Stamp Monthly from
my local library.
One of the columns I always look forward to is Ken Lawrence's Spotlight On Philateliy.
For the June 2024 edition the article is called
'Nostrum and Quackery': the Orangeburg coil stamp story.
Lawrence makes it so interesting in explaining as to why this rarity
was created in the first place and the trial and errors researching which
copies are fake or genuine.
Just to be clear, US stamps are definitely not one of my main collecting interests.
I did collect modern US stamps especially the 1960's Giori engraved stamps
which I found really fascinating due to the fact it was a fairly new printing
process.
But I had no interest whatsoever in US classics or the various Washington/Franklin
issues.

Reading this hard copy magazine while having breakfast is so enjoyable
compared to staring at the monitor.
It's a pity that hard copies of newspapers or magazines will probably
cease within the next few years.

For those interested in the Orangeburg coils Ken Lawrence continues writing about them in the July and September 2024 issues of the same publication.
