I'm a new collector (well, returning collector after decades away), so naturally I want to kick-start my collection by finding good deals on stamps, and I don't want to spend a fortune on supplies. So, to my delight, I found a stockbook on ebay filled with mint Canadian stamps for a good price. I get stamps and a stockbook; good deal, right? It arrived today.

As you can see, the pages have come loose from the binding, so I'll remove the stamps and store them in envelopes for the time being. How can I make use of the pages? There doesn't seem to be space to punch holes in them and store them in a binder, but I'd like to use the pages somehow. Ideas?

Stiffener when you ship stamps (if you ever do)?

That's a possibility, as I'm rapidly accumulating duplicates...

A place to stick the just dried and removed from stamp drying album until you sort thru them and put in proper album or other stockbook. Making up lots of country and or extras to sell or auction at local club, or to give a fun assortment to someone just looking to start collecting.

It can be rebound. Basically you flatten it out, apply a thin layer of glue to the inside of the spine, add back and align all the pages against the spine so that the inside edges of the page touch the glue, and leave it propped up with the spine flat on a surface overnight. That's essentially how it was made originally. Any PVA-based white glue will work although "bookbinder's glue" is the best because it's made to flex after curing.

Probably a little too narrow at the edge, but they could be hole-punched.

Oh, that's nice! But I think the black pages look better than my white pages would.

Actually as someone who was in exact same position about 5 years ago (new collector returning after decades away), I had the same idea that I didn't want to spend a fortune on supplies, but that led me to skimping hard on supplies which in retrospect I think was a mistake. You can get all the supplies you need for a few hundred dollars maybe. Over the past year or so I have let myself purchase any supply I want at full retail and it has definitely increased my enjoyment of the hobby.

I had a couple of stock books that self destructed. So I use the individual pages for project work, using just the side with that has the protective sheet.
