From patson

Hello,

Can anyone offer insight into how rare this booklet is with the adhesive applied to the wrong side of the stamp?

Thanks

Can we see some type of picture or scan of the booklet cover? Better yet, some type of picture showing one of the booklet panes, front and back. We're currently having a similar discussion, and a good photo would help us out. Thanks.

The self adhesive booklet you refer to does not have the adhesive applied to the wrong side of the paper. Actually it is correctly applied to the stamp paper and the backing /booklet cover paper which has the silicone shiny release paper as it should.

The normal Booklet number in the unitrade catalogue using the Scott numbering system is BK301. There are a couple differing ones having a different number of slits in the paper.
As I do not have my catalogue with me the number for this booklet you refer to would be BK 301?

The reason for the "no gum stamp" is because of a printing error. The sheet having the gummed stamp paper backed by the bookllet cover was fed into the printing pess upside down. Hence the stamp being printed on the ungummed backing/cover paper and the cover being printed on the stamp paper. This has been discussed before in the threads attached.

As for rarity or scarcity, I do not know of any official numbers, but it could be a few to several.

I've tried to make head or tails of all these "no gum" descriptions. Here are my conclusions:

1. It has absolutely nothing to do with "gum" or "no gum".

2. The booklet consist of a backing layer(s) that is/are prephosphored and a stamp layer(s) that is/are not phosphored.

3. In regular printing, what is the cover was printed on the prephosphored side, hence the cover glows under (long wave 365nm) uv.
The stamps were printed on the dead layer and do not glow under uv light. The margin also do not glow.

4. In the error printing, the reverse happened. The cover was printed on the dead layer, the stamps were printed on the prephosphored, hence they and the margin glows under uv light.

5. Again, this has nothing to do with "glue" or "no glue". Obviously the glue is there since the stamps stick on the cover.

Drkohler, your conclusions are correct. But 3) the margins do flouresce on either type because they have been correctly tagged. As far as 1) the heads and tails of the "no gum stamps", that terminology is correct if you remove these incorrectly printed stamps from the booklet.

Update - Description - I am speaking of the 49 cent Queen booklet issued in 2003 with Scott number BK281. My apologies.

I would appreciate an information on this booklet being printed on the wrong side of the paper, including whether this variation/oddity is listed in any catalogue.
