According to my references (Michel 2017/2018), this is not a occupation edition in the true sense of the word. It is a "normal" issue of Japan (16.02.1942), which was issued due to the conquest of Singapore. The surcharge was intended for national defense.c
Well thank you so much. B4, I see it now. I have a fairly solid Japanese collection and this beautiful stamp will be a nice edition. I should have noticed straight away it was a semi-postal after all.
