Nice to meet you. I am a Japanese stamp collector. I became interested in stamps in the 1990s. Recently started collecting early Romanian stamps. First, I bought a mint set of definitive stamps of King Michael I issued in 1945/47. For these stamps, I'm using free online pdf album pages.

Enrikeisue, Collecting for the enjoyment of collecting, whatever that might be, is the name of the game. Don't hesitate to ask questions especially if you need basic information and especially more advanced sources of information for any possible topic. You should be able to find folks on this board a little further along on their collecting journey glad to share experiences. My personal bias is a used stamp loses the story of its journey in the postal service when it is removed from the cover it transported to its destination. Collecting postal history adds a whole new aspect to your journey in our hobby. Wishing you many enjoyable future days in our hobby. Russ |

Dear hoosierboy, Thank you for your message. Yes, I sometimes keep the used stamps on the envelope! Especially express and registered mails. This is a registered mail posted in 1924, sent from Sapporo to Uzen Tendo(Yamagata prefecture) |

Enrikeisue welcome to the forum! I hope you have a wonderful time here. I love all the definitives of Romania, especially from the 1930s to the early 1950s. Aside from collecting definitives, I have a very nice collection of Himitsu-Bako puzzle boxes. They are not that well known in the US. Are they popular in Japan? |

Dear shermae, Thanks for your message! Do you mean Yosegi-zaiku mainly produced in Hakone? I think it's popular in Japan. I own a small box of Yosegi, decorated with thin layers of sliced wood.(It is not a puzzle box) A stamp of Yosegi-zaiku was issued on 21 Mar. 2024 as one of the "Traditional Crafts Series". (9th stamp of the link below) https://www.post.japanpost.jp/kitte...61024_t.html |
