I have obtained some Spanish stamps from Franco year 1939 with the imprint "Sanchez Toda" (SC#678, SC#679,SC#680 and SC#685) imperforated and in used condition, without being a rarity, they are not stamps that are commonly found, neither mint nor used…The fact is that I do not have any specialized catalog from Spain, and in the ones I have (both Edifil and Scott) the prices appear throughout the group and always in Mint condition. I have searched on the web because I would like to complete the series (step by step and if it is up to me reach), but I only find them in Mint condition (with one exception and they ask a lot of money for it, about 50 dollars), Could it be that it is rarer to find them used than Mint? Does anyone know if the specialized catalog says something about regard?
Very nice find. The margins of your stamp are quite wide. These look like genuine used imperforates.
I cannot say I have seen these offered used. Then again, I have not seen many full sets of this issues offered used in any format. It might be quite difficult to find a full imperforate set in used condition.
It will, mostly, be a question of relative demand. Imperforate varieties are best collected with sheet margin or in multiples to eliminate the possibility of perforations having been cut off. Even if rarer used than mint, they may not make the price of mint stamps as demand for them is very subdued.
I do not have the specialised Edifil. I am thinking about looking for the Vol. III of the Bronze edition when I am in León, in the not too distant future.
Edifil specialized (tome III) does not price these used. However, Edifil does not price many varieties used, only mint, so I wouldn't read too much significance to it. Checked a few recent Spanish auctions, and some mint imperfs are offered, but no used imperfs. I'd suggest looking on Delcampe to see if any for sale there.
The truth is that I was very lucky to find them, they appeared in a pile of old separated and torn pages from different albums that the owner of the store had accumulated in a corner and that no other buyer bothers to calmly review... along with I also got these, a pair of imperforate values #8203;#8203;from the CId and Isabel 1938 series, another pair from Isabel 1838 (without imprint) and also from Fernando el Catalico 1938, all in used condition, I will open a new topic to show them. It was a good hunt...Last few weeks have been very successful for all my collections (except for the USA classics, which cannot be seen...), although it is increasingly difficult to find something...and I spend more time searching around the corners of the store than in my house...
The reason they are not priced used is that they were not officially issued. (In the post office). In fact they appeared on the collectors market some years after the perforated types. The only General Franco official issue imperf was the 10cts tuberculosis stamp.
