Hello, can someone please help me identify this stamp. What does U.S.R (USSR?) mean. Does anyone know of any points of interest? Did the Russians have their mail in the US during WW2? Thank you very much. Jirka
There in no connection to Russia Beginning in mid-1938, users of higer-value precancels were required to add their initials and date to them. Now generally called "printed dated" precancels. Yours was used by the United States Rubber Co. of Naugatuck. The vast majority used a much smaller type size. .
