Hello everyone!
I have a stamp that have a "bump on the upper part of it. That "bump" was made by the hinge in the back of the stamp. I think it stayed a lot of time and so that has created this. I would like to remove this bump to make the paper flat, like it was before being hinged for a lot of time. Does someone have any tips or tricks?

I don't know if I explained it well, I've tried to do my best.

Thanks, CS

My guess is remove the hinge by soaking the stamp and then press it under weight. Some old stamps have water soluble ink, in that case don't do what I just write...

The hinge is already removed. So maybe put a book on the stamp for a certain period of time?

was just curious what the bump looked like, but it sounds like soaking again and then pressing is the right solution if it is as you described

Here are some examples from the Internet where the hinge is so heavily attached that it has buckled and almost creased the paper on the stamp.

For used stamps, soaking and drying should cure the bulging. For mint stamps, I have had various degrees of success using a White Ace "Thor" stamp press to flatten the stamps over the course of many weeks in the vise grip.

I am surprised you got many answers without ever knowing if you were discussing a used or unused stamp. Your picture shows as used. Thus just do a cleaning soak to get any hinge residue off and allow it to dry under some pressure. How much pressure, well that can vary from a closed standard drying book to a standard drying set up with one or many books weighting down the drying stamp up to the good old stamp press.

I place the stamps between two pieces of glass and stick a stack of catalogues on top, then leave it for a few days.
