Finally ! (Huff...Huff) The last post! Lastly, here are a few stamps that I overlooked when sorting those particular countries: In total, I counted 375 individual stamps. A large majority are CTOs, but there was enough other material to make the mix a lot of fun to go through. I found quite a few issues that I did not already have in my collection. Hey, wait a minnit'...Did I say 375?? They lied to me! The bag said 300 stamps. That's false advertising! I must pack these up right away, return them, and get my money back !! All kidding aside, this bag was an OK deal at roughly 2 1/2 cents per stamp. I very much enjoyed spending the time photographing all of these stamps and posting the pictures to give everyone here on the forum an idea of what you can expect to find in these Hobby Lobby mixtures. Cheers! |

GitFiddler, hurry, I demand you get to 50 quality posts ASAP!!!!!!!. Then I can contact you to buy the five stamps from you mix I would love to own (they fit my topical). My offer would put a big dent into your cost outlay for the grab bag material.
Ask and I will mention the topic/stamps pending your 50 posts. I am mention this now due to a past experience when I was slow contacting a poster who though no one in their right mind would want the cover he posted,so he soaked all the stamps off of the cover before I the out of my right mind collector contacted him to offer to buy the cover.
That said, wow, you post this five days ago when I am away from the internet and have three pages already. You struck a topic of interest.

Thanks for posting the contents of the mystery bag. It looks like you had as much fun going through it as we had watching the reveal. Appears to be a good mix of vintage and modern. I guess that receiving 375 stamps instead of 300 is good compensation for the number of duplicate CTOs. They probably bag them by weight, and the off-paper CTOs weigh a lot less than 300 regular stamps on-paper. I'll have to look for a Hobby Lobby in my neighborhood and see if they carry the bags there too. I'd like to buy a couple bags to help keep them in stock and see that they don't discontinue them for lack of interest. 2 1/2 cents each is not a bad deal to fill a few spaces. |

Parcelpostguy, I'll get those posts drafted and uploaded as soon as possible. I have a large collection that got started back in the early 1960s as well as a fairly large accumulation of interesting covers that would make good subject matter (post fillers) All the stamps I got in the recent mixture definitely are not going anywhere soon! Let me know specifically which ones you are after and I will set them aside. |

No matter how many stamps you think you have, there always seems to be some in those bags you don't have. Keeps the hobby fun. Thanks for the recap! |

Since 'Glasses Guy' ,has perennially been a common fixture in the stamp grab bags over the years, I cracked open my old album of Belgian stamps to see if I could find more of him. Of course, I have the complete set of denominations of the well-known design, plus some of the 'luminous paper' varieties. I didn't know too much about this guy, so a bit of online research was in order. 'Glasses Guy' is King Baudouin of Belgium (1930-1993). The son on King Leopold III and Queen Astrid, he reigned as king from 1951 until his death. Baudouin was the last Belgian king to also be sovereign over the Belgian Congo, which gained its independence in 1960. Here are a couple of other interesting stamps I have in my holdings: The first two are semi-postals from the early 1930s depicting the future king as a young lad, long before the need for spectacles. Cute little tyke.... The third stamp is the regular design with an inscribed B in an oval. This one is an official issue. Cheers! |

Due to size (vertical) minimums, parts of uninterested stamps included-- In the sport identifying symbols around the frame is the Judo symbol. Judo Edit: GitFiddler, check out and add to this thread here: https://www.stampcommunity.org/post...&FORUM_ID=37 of course you need an avatar (profile picture) to play HOWEVER, some names are likely worth a story and I am wondering about yours (see the last post --well until someone else posts--, page 4). Thanks and may your count climb. Oh, once you hit 50 be sure to enable your accepts/sends email function. |

Quote: E Rawolik-type overview This name rings a bell but the cobwebs are holding back info. Wasn't he kind of like K. Bileski? |

Quote: This name rings a bell but the cobwebs are holding back info. Wasn't he kind of like K. Bileski? Anonymized name that did mixture reviews for decades in Linn's. Consisted of numerous reviewers named "E. Rawolik IV", etc. (Kiloware spelled backwards). |

GitFiddler, thanks for doing this. This has been a fun throwback thread.
For those that aren't Hobby Lobby aficionados, check into their coupons. You can typically get an online coupon to get 40% off an item.
Categories of items go on sale in weekly ads throughout the year. I've never paid attention to whether stamp and coin supplies go on sale, but I would expect that they do, once or twice a year.
I'm not going to buy one of these, but this has been great. |

Rev, thanks for the reminder. Yes, now I recall that column. I always enjoyed his breakdown of cat value, amount of duplication, etc.
As a kid I recall buying big envelopes of stamps with the front showing nice pictorials/commemorative. Upon opening however it was basically on paper stuff with glasses guy and bald guy. But, as a kid, it kept me busy soaking stamps!

Unfortunately, they did away with this coupon back in 2021 - it is no longer available. Instead, they now focus on offering individual sales on individual items (not usually stamp or coin supplies).
